Project SUSTAIN: Distribution of essential supplies to the vulnerable communities
As an urgent response to the coronavirus pandemic, BNMT Nepal is implementing ‘Project SUSTAIN: Emergency Support and Sustenance to Communities Affected by Crisis’ in Morang, Pyuthan, Mahotari, Chitwan and Bardiya districts of Nepal. The project is funded by BNMT UK and IMPACT TB. The project is designed to
- support the most vulnerable families with access to food, basic sanitation materials and some essential medicines in coordination with district authorities;
- improve communication of information to rural communities via radio and posters and
- Procurement and supply of Procuring Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for front-line health workers in the districts
With the approval of the selected palikas/wards through the health office in Morang, the vulnerable families (including families of TB patients) were identified and supplied with basic sustenance support on 12th May 2020.
The supply of medical equipment and communication resources are in process of obtaining approval.
This initiative has been highly appreciated by the government stakeholders.
