Bhola Rai

Bhola Rai is a Grant Research Officer at BNMT Nepal’s head office in Kathmandu. Previously, he served as Project Manager in Makwanpur district, where he successfully led the Addressing the Social Determinants and Consequences of Tuberculosis in Nepal (ASCOT) project. This initiative, integrated within the IMPACT TB project, evaluated the feasibility and acceptability of socioeconomic support interventions for TB-affected households in Nepal.

Bhola contributed as a Research Associate for four years, working on the IMPACT TB project funded by the EU Horizon 2020 and the Seed Award project supported by the Wellcome Trust. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health and, Master’s degree in Public Administration from Tribhuvan University.

With over seven years of experience in infectious disease research, Bhola specializes in data collection, management, and analysis. He is also the recipient of an early-career research grant from the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).

An accomplished researcher, Bhola has authored more than 20 publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals. His previous roles include serving as a Public Relations Officer at the Travel and Mountain Medicine Center in Kathmandu, a Team Leader for the Nepal Nutrition Intervention Project in Sarlahi (in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health), and working with Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh.
