A Special Recognition Meeting in Honour of Dr. Gillian Holdsworth

BNMT Nepal was privileged to hold a Special Recognition Meeting on 24th June 2025 in Kathmandu to honor one of the trustees and former Chair of BNMT UK, Dr. Gillian Holdsworth for her longstanding dedication, exceptional leadership, and invaluable contributions to BNMT over the years.

The event was attended by our Board members, friends and colleagues of Dr. Gillian, and the BNMT central office family. It was an opportunity for all to come together to celebrate her enduring commitment and to express our collective appreciation for her service to the organization.

During the meeting, BNMT Nepal Chair Mr. Mahesh Sharma shared fond memories of working alongside Dr. Gillian on numerous projects and assignments. He praised her as a truly resilient leader who consistently guided BNMT through both challenging and prosperous times. Mr. Sharma highlighted her unwavering dedication and the strategic insight she brought to the organization, which have helped to sustain and strengthen BNMT’s mission over many years.

Executive Board member Ms. Shobhana Gurung Pradhan also spoke, expressing her deep gratitude for Dr. Gillian’s inspiring leadership. She emphasized how Dr. Gillian’s clear vision and thoughtful guidance have been instrumental in shaping BNMT’s direction and impact, ensuring that the organization remains focused on its mission to serve communities in need.

BNMT Treasurer Mr. Heem Shakya, though meeting Dr. Gillian for the first time, offered his appreciation on behalf of the Board, acknowledging her long-standing commitment and the lasting impact of her service.

BNMT Executive Director Mr. Raghu Dhital underscored Dr. Gillian’s critical role in supporting BNMT during times of financial uncertainty. He noted how her dedication and efforts were pivotal in bridging funding gaps and maintaining continuity in vital programmes and services. Her ability to mobilize support and resources has left an enduring mark on the organization’s stability and sustainability.

The meeting also included a special moment led by our MC, Ms. Soma Rai, who recited a warm message sent by the current Chair of BNMT UK, Mr. Jeffrey W. Mecaskey. His words of appreciation and respect further highlighted the lasting impact of Dr. Gillian’s leadership on both BNMT UK and BNMT Nepal.

In her remarks, Dr. Gillian thanked everyone for the heartfelt recognition and reflected on the many years of shared work and partnership. As a token of our deep appreciation, we were honored to present her with an artwork commemorating her memorable 2005 trek—a symbol of her commitment, passion, and spirit of adventure that continue to inspire us all.
