Psychosocial Counselling and Support Program at Allapot-3, Kathmandu
On 3rd July, 2015 a team of counsellor from BNMT was in Bal Bikash Secondary School, Allapot-3, Kathmandu. During the visit we conducted psychosocial need assessment in the school through observation and discussion with the teachers. The teachers showed a positive inclination towards our program and mentioned that psychosocial support program is very much in need for the students. In the meanwhile we also conducted psychosocial counselling session to 19 students from class 8 of the very school. Students shared their feelings and experiences of the earthquake. We found some trying to move in their normal life and study although it is one of the affected areas while some are still living in fear. BNMT will conduct further follow up sessions for the students.
Likewise the teachers have shown keen interest in psychosocial support training to further support students in this post disaster scenario. BNMT in close coordination with the school administration and District Education Office will further work on it.
