BNMT Earthquake Relief Action 4th May 2015
4th May 2015, BNMT has teamed up with the Nepalese Nurses Association UK in providing support to those affected by the earthquake.
Post-traumatic stress disorder amongst earthquake survivors, especially amongst those that have lost their homes, loved ones and family member/s has emerged as one of the major concerns in Nepal today. Most survivors live in the fear that something like this will happen again. Providing psychosocial counseling and support will be one of BNMT’s major focus areas in the rehabilitation process.
Besides providing blankets and plastic mats, we conducted group counseling sessions to a number of women’s groups. Most expressed that it was a big relief just to be able to share their feelings out aloud. The more difficult cases will be referred to specialist care.
