Dawa and Bhola’s Marathon run for TB Nutrition Support
On December 7, 2024, BNMT team members Dawa Rinji Sherpa and Bhola Rai took on the challenge of the Fishtail Marathon in Pokhara, running 42K and 21K, respectively. But their race was about more than just crossing the finish line. It was a mission to support people affected by tuberculosis (TB) in Nepal.
With a shared goal of providing essential nutritional support to TB patients in Mahottari and Banke, Dawa and Bhola raised an incredible £2,109. Proper nutrition is crucial for TB recovery, yet many patients struggle with food insecurity, making their fight against the disease even harder. This initiative aimed to bridge that gap, ensuring that those undergoing treatment receive the nourishment they need to regain their health.
Their efforts resonated far beyond Nepal. Inspired by their commitment, BNMT supporter Annie Goldie from Scotland joined the cause, running 21K in her hometown of Peebles to raise awareness and funds. This collective effort showcased the power of community and solidarity in improving the lives of TB patients. Through their dedication, Dawa, Bhola turned every step of their race into a step toward better health and support for those in need, embodying BNMT’s unwavering commitment to helping the most vulnerable.
