District level Orientation on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS) in Sindhupalchowk
Under the project, “Enhancing Community Health in Nepal”, BNMT Nepal conducted three days District level Orientation on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS) in District Health Office, Chautara, Sindhupalchowk, from 25th November to 27th November 2016. The orientation accommodated government health officials from District Public Health Office, representatives from health posts of Sindhupalchowk (Sipapokhare health post, Badegaun health post, Kunchowk health post) as well as BNMT project staffs. A total of 25 participants benefitted from the orientation facilitated by a team of trainers namely Ms. Shikha Khatiwada Upadhyaya, Ms. Kritika Dixit, Ms. Nishu Pradhan and Mr. Dipendra Pandey from BNMT Nepal.
The main features of the orientation included sessions on Psychosocial Wellbeing and Psychosocial problems; Effect of psychosocial problems on mind, body, behaviour; Communication skills in Counselling (both verbal and non-verbal); Relationship between Mental Health and Counselling; Self Awareness; Reporting of mental and psychosocial cases; Referral system; Progressive Muscles Relaxation Exercises and various group activities.
