Psychosocial Need Assessment and Support Program in Sankhu
On 8th June BNMT’s Psychosocial Support Group was in Pukulachi 10, Shankarpur Municipality, Sakhu Kathmandu. Pukulachi area has been identified as hard hit area and critical in respect to psychosocial support required. Thus responding to District Public Health Office, Kathmandu request BNMT is taking lead on the psychosocial support program in the area. During the first visit we conducted psychosocial need assessment through observation and conversation with local stakeholders and community people living in makeshift tents. The assessment showed that people were trying to move on after the earthquake and such support program will be really helpful to build up the resilience. In the meanwhile a psychosocial counseling and support session was also conducted. The session was done among 13 participants that included staffs of Pukulachi Sakhu Health Post, Female community Health volunteers and local people. Further sessions will be done to required cohort after proper need identification.
