Training on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS)
As one of the activities of project intervention, BNMT Nepal conducted three days training workshop on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS) in Hotel Tibet, Lazimpat, Kathmandu, from 16th August to 18th August 2016. The training accommodated government health officials from District Public Health Office, National Health Training Center and representatives from health posts of Kathmandu (Kavresthali health post, Sankhu health post, Sundarijal health post) and Bhaktapur districts (Nagarkot health post, Gundu health post) as well as district coordinators of five districts and BNMT project staffs. A total of 29 participants attended the training workshop lead and facilitated by Ms. Sunita Shrestha, psychologist and managing director, Antarang Nepal; and supported by Ms. Aroja Maskey, Psychosocial counselor, BNMT Nepal. Moreover, a session by Prof. Dr. Saroj Prasad Ojha, Head of Psychiatry Department, Institute of Medicine, on Mental Health edged as an added knowledge material among the participants.
The main features of the training included sessions on Self Awareness; Effect of psychosocial problems on mind, body, behavior; Stress and Post Traumatic Stress Disorders; Communication skills; Suicide Prevention; Relaxation exercises and various group activities.
