World TB Day 2015
BNMT Nepal participated in the World Tuberculosis Day on 24th March, 2015 organised by the National Tuberculosis Centre at the Nepal Academy Hall, Kamaladi in Kathmandu. During the event, BNMT disseminated its anti TB activities and achievements through its exhibition stall. More than 500 people visited the stall during the day. The visitors were provided various IEC/BCC materials on TB prevention at the function.
World Tuberculosis Day is marked every year on March 24.
In figures
• There were 37,025 notified cases of TB who underwent DOTS (directly observed treatment, short-course) treatment in 2014-15
• Around 10,000 TB patients miss their treatment annually
• TB kills 5,000-7,000 people every year in Nepal
• 45 per cent of total population in Nepal are infected with TB and 40,000 people get TB every year
